Use AI for Your Weekly Plan

AI can help you create a clear weekly plan for your job search activities. You tell it what you need to accomplish – and AI suggests how to structure it.

The purpose is to save time and get a clear structure. You can then adapt the plan if new situations arise.

How it works

The process has two parts:

  1. You create the list: Write all the tasks you need to work on in the coming week
  2. AI creates the plan: AI distributes the tasks into a clear schedule

Step 1: Create your task list

Start by writing all the tasks you need to work on. Include everything – also the small tasks.

Example of a week's tasks:

  • Apply for 3 advertised positions
  • Attend job fair Wednesday between 10 and 12
  • Create a list of 6 relevant companies
  • Apply for 6 unsolicited positions
  • Practice personal presentation for unsolicited contact
  • Phone follow-up on previously contacted companies
  • Find and evaluate new advertised positions
  • Contact companies to ask questions about job postings
  • Ask network if they know companies that could be contacted

Step 2: Give AI your context

Before you give AI your tasks, you need to explain your framework. The more information, the better the plan.

Example of context:

"I want to work on job searching all weekdays from 8-11 and again from 13-15. Networking should happen Wednesday and Thursday evening, when I'm at badminton and in a running club. Applications for advertised positions take about an hour each. Unsolicited applications take about 30 minutes each. Advertised jobs should be applied for on Tuesday and Thursday. Unsolicited contact should happen in the morning, but not on Friday."

Step 3: Input your tasks

Then you give AI your task list. AI will distribute the tasks based on your context.

You get an overview of:

  • Which tasks you should work on when
  • Whether there are tasks that need more focus
  • When you have time off

Step 4: Adapt the plan

If there's something in the plan you want to change, you can easily write it to AI.

Example:
"I don't want to work on job searching Friday after 1 PM."

AI updates the plan and takes your changes into account.

Why use AI for the weekly plan?

  • Saves time: You don't have to puzzle with time blocks yourself
  • Overview: You get a clear visualization of the week
  • Flexibility: Easy to adjust when things change
  • Documentation: You can download the plan and show it to your counsellor

Evaluate when the week is over

When the week ends, you should evaluate:

  • What went well?
  • Which tasks did you complete?
  • What will you do differently next week?

Use the evaluation to create an even better plan for next week.

Typical mistakes to avoid

  • Giving too little context – the more AI knows, the better the plan
  • Not adapting the plan – it's your plan, not AI's
  • Forgetting breaks – remember to plan time off
  • Not evaluating – you learn from looking back

Practical tips

  • Start by listing ALL tasks – also the small ones
  • Be specific about your time frames
  • Indicate how long typical tasks take
  • Adapt the plan so it fits your reality
  • Download and save the plan
  • Evaluate every week and improve the process

Try it yourself

  1. Write all your job search tasks for next week
  2. Describe your time frames and preferences
  3. Ask AI to create a weekly plan
  4. Review the plan and adapt as needed
  5. Follow the plan – and evaluate afterwards

Frequently asked questions

Can AI really create a good weekly plan for me?

AI creates a draft based on your input. You adapt it to your reality. It saves time and provides a good starting point.

What if my plan changes mid-week?

No problem. Write the changes to AI, and it creates an updated plan. Or adjust manually yourself.
