Find companies on job portals

Did you know that you can find companies on Jobindex even if they don't have current job postings? With the archive function, you can see who has previously searched for employees with your skills – and that is invaluable for your unsolicited contact.

What is Jobindex's archive function?

Jobindex stores all job postings in an archive. With the archive function, you can search through previously posted job ads – including those that are filled or expired.

This gives you access to a lot of useful knowledge:

  • Which companies have previously searched for employees with your skills
  • Which competencies the companies have emphasised
  • Which motivational factors the company has focused on
  • Who you should contact – the hiring manager for your type of position

Why is this so valuable?

When you contact companies unsolicited, you are much stronger if you have this information in advance.

You actually have a kind of "job posting" to base your approach on. You know:

  • What they value
  • Who the contact person is
  • What type of employee they typically seek

How to use the archive – step by step

Step 1: Go to the archive

Go to jobindex.dk. Scroll down on the front page and find the link "Tag et kig i annoncearkivet" (Take a look at the job ad archive).

Step 2: Enter your search

In the search field, type a job title or skill you are looking for. Then select a geographical area – it can be a municipality, region, or distance from your address.

Step 3: Select time period

Choose the period you want to search in. A good rule of thumb is 1-2 years, so you get a broad overview of companies that have been recruiting.

Step 4: Review the results

You now get a list of archived job ads. You can view them in list view or on a map.

The map view is useful if you want to see where the companies are located relative to your home – and if there are opportunities in outlying areas with less competition.

Step 5: Save contact information

Click on an archived ad to see details. At the bottom, you typically find:

  • Name of the hiring manager
  • Email address
  • Phone number

Add this information to your company list.

Find companies, not just ads

If you have many search results, you can group them by company.

Go to the bottom of the page and click on "Søg uopfordret" (Apply unsolicited). Now the companies are shown grouped – not the individual ads.

Sort by "Antal jobannoncer" (Number of job ads) to see which companies have most frequently searched for employees with your skills. Those are the ones you should prioritise.

Both private and public sector

The archive contains job ads from both private companies and the public sector.

For the public sector, permanent full-time positions must be advertised. But you can still use the archive to:

  • Find contact persons
  • Expand your network
  • Get knowledge about what they value

A discussion with the contact person can position you better the next time they post a job.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Only searching current postings: You miss out on lots of companies
  • Not saving contact information: Note everything in your company list
  • Searching too narrowly: Try different job titles and categories
  • Forgetting the map view: It shows opportunities you might not have seen

Practical tips

  • Set a goal: Find 15-20 companies from the archive today
  • Try multiple searches with different job titles
  • Copy links to interesting ads so you can return to them
  • Note the most important keywords from the ads – use them in your application
  • Contact companies that have had many postings – they are likely to recruit again

Try it yourself

  1. Go to jobindex.dk and find the job ad archive
  2. Search for your preferred job title and a relevant region
  3. Select the last 2 years as the time period
  4. Find 10 companies and note contact persons in your company list
  5. Click on "Søg uopfordret" to see the companies grouped
